Contact protection and safety review
The inspection of electrical equipment, including welding and plasma cutting devices and power tools, for contact protection and safety is a requirement, as the Welding Safety Regulations classify them as dangerous equipment (HBSZ – 143/2004.(XII.22.) GKM Decree). It is important that in addition to power sources, the inspection obligation also applies to welding and plasma cutting guns. Power sources must be carried out in accordance with the MSZ EN 60974-1 standard, welding guns must be carried out in accordance with the MSZ EN 50078 standard , and plasma cutting guns must be carried out in accordance with the MSZ EN 50192 and MSZ EN 60974-1 standards. This inspection is mandatory for all companies that operate such equipment, failure to do so may result in heavy fines – in the best case, in the worst case, serious accidents. and injuries may occur, which are obviously better avoided, and which the operator of the equipment is legally responsible for.
Validation/Verification
The approval, i.e. validation, of welding equipment (welding power sources, feeders, guns) is primarily a quality assurance activity, which must be carried out in accordance with the MSZ EN ISO 17662:2005 and EN 50504 standards. Validation is mandatory for all steel and aluminum structure manufacturing companies that operate in accordance with the EN 1090-1 standard! This standard includes the validation of all equipment whose use affects the quality of welding or the manufactured product, but especially its safety, so not only the power sources, but also the feeder units and guns. During validation, it must be checked whether the values measured on the output side of the device after setting the characteristics specified in the WPS correspond to these. We can even perform real-time measurements during operation and issue a standard-compliant validation and calibration report. For validation, we use one of the most modern diagnostic devices currently available on the market, which is fully capable of measuring and verifying the aforementioned data.
